Sorry, Dan. What's this? I can't get the image any bigger and can't read it. Old eyes, you know.

Sorry, Janice. This is the only picture I have of the edition of Tv Times, a US publication (I think?) Just a miscellaneous curio I found that I thought I'd share. I never actually owned it so I've no idea what the article was about.

The other day my kids were bored so I put on the pilot episode for them to watch (they've watched most of the T.V. episodes already). Without my prompting her, my daughter asked if the girl at the pool was supposed to be dead. I guess I'm not the only one who wasn't sure what they meant there.
Boy, the music played when Jesse is doing the workout montage is really campy, like it came off an old Nintendo game. I hope Tangerine Dream isn't responsible for it.

Yes indeed Airwolf and Knight Rider both made it onto Japanese Laserdiscs. Several volumes each.

I also think they used that superimposed effect in A Second Self when the bike jumped from the higher ledge in the Storm Drains. It was either an effect or they used the crane again, but I can't see why they'd do that. Well, Ducati thinks the backflip scene was done with models. It's interesting that you, like me, also think it was an effect. What do others think? The A Second Self shot of the bike is for sure done with a crane. No matte lines around the bike, and you can see the back wheel is not turning. Plus I totally agree the backflip from the pilot is done with a model.

I would imagine it's something simple like the effect was no longer available or too costly etc. Think about it, a red laser ray is a much "cleaner" and accurate targeting weapon I guess.
Yeah, I noticed the back wheel too. I'm sure it was a crane, you're right.
Wonder what happened to the bike miniature? That'd be something to own for sure!

It kind of makes sense if you look at the special effects for the car and for the fence...you see smoke eminating from places the laser never hit. Also, the tip of the laser cannon actually looks more realistic as an electricity weapon than a laser weapon (no visible optics). It would also explain why it shorted out the nose of the bike when it malfunctioned in the pilot. Interesting too that in South America the show was called "Moto Laser". I wonder if they had not changed it, would they have called it "Moto Blue Electric Zapper"? The world may never know.

The design of the weapon looks definately more like a tazer/personal attack weapon than a lazer gun, I totally agree with you there. I do prefer it actually. I always thought the electricity particle beam would have been great to apprehend criminals on foot with (low voltage of course) and to immobolize cars when in pursuit. Saves on the rockets and bullets of course too! ;D

Vearing off slightly to "The Adjustor." In the final scene at the theatre, Norman yells for Jesse to 'let him have it!' meaning to shoot the guy with the machine guns? !!!! That's a bit cold! It just surprised me. The building was set to collapse and he would be unlikely to get out in time anyway. Could Jesse have shot him so coldly like that at close range??? Funny scene.

I think Norman meant for Jesse to let him have the cash and get out of there before the building came down. At least that's my impression because Cannon was scambling around on the floor loading up the money saying, "it's mine!"

Good find! I have this Japanese disc. I also have the same international version (minus the Japanese subtitles of course) released in Canada on VHS. Naturally for my viewing pleasure I've dubbed it over to DVD. ;D

Scott. Is there any chance you can make available some clips from your original broadcasts, such as the pilot with the tv series intro, commercial bumpers etc?

Pentastar,
I'm pretty sure the novel answers your question. I'll look it up when I get home today. I'm almost sure that Corrido is referring to the woman passed out in the lounge chair. In the book, Commissioner Miller is staring at her as Corrido comes out of the pool, wondering if she's dead (which she may be). You'll also see that Corrido nods in her direction ever so slightly as he comes out of the pool, showing that he's referring to her.
I'll confirm after I glance through the novel. I have been going through them to get extra bits of "official" information. In the novels, much of the dialogue from the shows is expanded.
Also interesting, the Pilot novel refers to the bike as a "brooding shade of black. A later series novel calls it "jet black."
