After a recent re-watching of this episode, here are my thoughts:
- The horse stable episodes were quite common in the 80's, I particularly remember an episode of Hunter that centered around a murdered horse trainer and a valuable thoroughbred.
- I did a Google search on "Septum Semium", the disease the horse is supposedly dying from, and got no results.
- I think this episode would have been more interesting if it had been a mystery who was behind the theft of the horse. There are reasons to suspect Mr. Stone, the horse's owner, the trainer, and even Ms. Montgomery seem a little suspect.
- The horse's owner sure is a Cougar. Mr. Stone looks to be half her age.
- I noted Norman starts the mission by working on a modified "cornering gyro".
- I liked how Jesse throws Norman the half-eaten apple as he gets on the bike, to Norman's disgust.
- We get a unique shot of Jesse inside the motorcycle chamber as the doors close.
- Norman sure does do a lot of blank stares in this episode.
- The female jockey Jesse runs into is sure cuter than any of the other women starring in this episode.
- I like when Jesse asks the woman, "You got a shovel around here," and she plays him a little with, "This is a horse stable."
- Love the hockey puck homing device.
- The movies playing at the drive in are "Scarface" and "Terror in the Aisles". I think we all know Scarface, but I looked up Terror in the Aisles. Apparently it was some sort of documentary about horror movies over the years which relied heavily on clips from other movies. Not a very good documentary to say the least.
- The bad guy somehow thinks that just blindfolding Ms. Montgomery and throwing her in the back seat would prevent her from taking the blindfold off. Then later on when he shows her the horse he's not wearing his mask.
- This episode has another scene with Jesse fighting the bad guys off the bike. Didn't he learn his lesson in the pilot not to do that?
