It is amazing how you can see something new everytime you watch an episode. I watched the pilot again today. Here are a few new observations:
1. In the opening chase scene with the dirt bikes and police cruisers, they do a camera shot from inside the cruiser. There is a black spot in the middle of the scene. I finally figured out that it is the bracket for the rear view mirror. They removed it to shoot the scene.
2. After Jesse's surgery, he and Norman are at CC at night going over the aspects of the bike. This is the scene where he gets on the bike and gets thrown off. When they leave, Norman wants to give Jesse the leg brace. Jesse is twirling his cane. If he is with Norman at CC at night , why does he have his cane?
3. The police dept sends Marty's file through IA to be sure that he was not involved with his killers. Jesse was in the desert with him, why didn't they investigate him too?
4. When Jesse is late for the student tour, Sandy pulls him aside for a dressing down. When she is finished, he walks off - in the wrong direction. His tour is waiting the other way.
5. When Jesse and Sandy are checking the paint shops, Jesse is walking like he is wearing the brace. Norman pages him and he goes to CC. When he gets there, he is walking normally.
6. When he is chasing the bikes in the tunnel, one of the riders shoots at him. Jesse stops the bike and the bullet hits the other dirt bike. I had thought the tire was shot out. Did it hit the bag of cocaine? It took me a minute to think about this. Jesse says he can't see anything for the dust, and Norman tells him to stay still and not inhale. (Mach for President slogan - I swear I did not inhale).

That cracks me up! A glaring error the Director missed, but that strikes me as a real Jesse moment. If I didn't know better it's as if Jesse had done this on purpose! He always tried to shirk his work responsibilities! ;D

Yes, that's right. You can see a package explode and when the rider is on the ground you see white powder around him. Excellent new observations btw Janice. Video must be a curse for many a director. Fans years on pull up what often seem quite obvious errors which they were too busy to notice. [/b]

Just another idle thought. The scene where Jesse is flipped off the bike after the security system is activated, and Norm says, "It hasn't been programed for you yet..." it got me wondering. Is Street Hawk programmed to acknowledge Jesse's butt cheeks or what? LMAO How does it detect if the wrong person has got on the bike? Maybe it has some sort of palm print recognition device on the handle bars like in James Bond or something? Is the seat fitted with a delicate weighting scale so if anyone gets on who does not weight the same it activates. Jesse had better mind those coffee and donuts in that case!

Maybe he had to have a butt cheek recognition scan. Sort of like the office idiot and the copier. ;D I have always wondered about this too.

Is Street Hawk programmed to acknowledge Jesse's butt cheeks or what? After reading this, I shook my head in quiet disbelief and said to myself "Only Dan would be capable of such a thought."

Upon first entering Command Centre with Jesse, there is only a single door between the outside and command centre. Not very good security really for a government project, not even a burglar alarm or reinforced door! You can vaguely make out a sign above when they are outside, which I think reads something like, "Central Bakery Supply Co" (?) There is also a light on permanently above the door. Surely an abandoned building would not have electricity running and might alert people to the fact the building is being used? Norm pulls up near to the door in this episode, yet in the subsequent episodes, his and Jesse's car are parked outside on a main road on the other side of the building. In other episodes, Jesse and Norm sometimes use another door on the opposite end of the command centre...

Seems like the entrance did move around a lot. Maybe Norman likes to remodel in his spare time. If it was an empty warehouse or factory, there were probably multiple entrances. Is the same building used in the pilot as the other episodes? I could not make out what the sign over the door said. I will give it another look.

It was just a good guess on my part. Perhaps someone with a clearer copy and the use of a better zoom function can confirm? I'm pretty sure it is the same building btw. Yes, I imagine for the simple reasons of convenience and fire safety there had to be 2 entrances, perhaps even more. 3 infact, if you count the billboard exit, which I can never decide is meant to be a static billboard concealing a hidden exit point or a goods/unloading bay with an advertisement on the doors??? Being several feet from the ground it is just the right height for an articulated delivery van.
