Happy Halloween everyone! We had quite a few kids from the neighborhood come by for candies. It was quite fun. My 11 year old step-daughter was a hippie, my 4 year old son was a ghost, and my 1 year old son was a pumpkin. They all had great costumes this year. Now to eat all my kid's candies...holy cow, there's a lot!!!

What's a candie? :-) Only kidding! I live on a small private estate, mainly occupied by people of 30+ but a lot of old people too. No children. It's HEAVEN! LoL The neighbourhood committee put up posters saying "No Trick or Treaters!" which seemed a little harsh and il-spirited. Having said that, although I love the festival of Samhain, trick or treating is a modern concept and I'm not a kiddie person. The thought of little terrors knocking on doors demanding sweets is tolerable, but most here tend to demand money! Takes all the fun and charity out of the thing, so I'm afraid we abstain. Anyone that knocks on our door gets a 4ft broadsword up their trouser leg!

A belated Happy Halloween!
I stopped giving out candy to trick or treaters a few years ago. The kids kept getting more & more rude. The last time I did it, one kid reached in my basket of candy and grabbed a handful or more. I had to jerk it away. When I gave candy to his friends, I did not give him any. He ran off screaming to his mother that I would not give him any candy. That was it. If I am going to buy candy, I'm not going to give it to rude little kids. I'll eat it myself thanks.
Most of the churches & schools here have festivals, so there are fewer & fewer trick or treaters out anyway. We saw very few last night. Several years ago we would have had 30 or 40.

I didn't hear from any trick or treaters last night.
Saying that, I haven't checked my car for egg damage yet!
I live down a very old street (Possibly the 2nd oldest street in Bridgwater) dating back to the 17th century.
It's just off the high street in town but is strangely quiet.
I think parents warn their kiddies not to come down this street. There's lots of bedsits and flats down here. And as we all know, bedsits = druggies and immigrants.
But I watched my usual marathon of Halloween movies (not all horrors).
Halloween III, Scooby-Doo and The Witch's Ghost, The Worst Witch, The Halloween Tree, Hocus Pocus and Halloween.
I find more family oriented Halloween movies have more of the Halloween essence than horrors.
I love Halloween III though. Much maligned, just because of the absence of Michael Myers.

A belated Happy Halloween! Actually, no. The night of 31st is All Hallow's Eve. The actual 'Day of the Dead' is today, all day! Maybe you guys can send some of your pumpkin pie this way?!! It's an acquired taste but I developed a taste for it in Canada!

We usually have our pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, though I can't say I'm a big fan of it. I do really like roasted pumkin seeds, and since we made 4 jack-o-lanterns this year I now have plenty of them to chew & spit.
