Does anybody here think the naked gun films are great,I think the humor is great and the way Nielson portrays Frank Drebin is brilliant,I am a huge fan of the police squad! series before it also,a great quote from the first one:ED:'The doctors say he only has 50/50 chance of living, but theres only a 10 percent chance of that,or when nielson walks into a formal function and the coat guy says"Your coat sir" and to which Nielson replies:"Yes it is and I have a reciept to prove it".I have to say in my mind the Naked gun trilogy are the best comedy films ever, anybody agree?

It's not really my bag I'm afraid. I can take it or leave it. Same with Police Academy, but the odd gag still makes me laugh.
from "Aeroplane" : "Surely that's no right?" "DON'T CALL ME SHIRLEY!" :-)
I can't really put a finger on what makes me specifically chuckle and what makes me laugh out loud. Comedy wise I like the very goofy Jim Carey, from Dumb and Dumber to Lair,Liar etc.
I've just got the dvd to Garth Marenghi's "Darkplace" which is a superb satire taking the piss out of Eighties Tv, Horror Writers Such as Herbert & King and old horror flicks.
Best comedy film ever? Leave that with me. I'd need to think more...

The Ghostbusters movies were quite entertaining, action, supernatural suspense, slapstick comedy, puns and people getting slimed! The music was also very catchy.
Oh, and this leads neatly into ... HAPPY HALLOWEEN people! :-)

I enjoyed the Naked Gun movies, though I might not go so far as to say they were the best comedy movies ever made.
Some of my personal favorite comidies are: The Man Who Knew Too Little (a not very well known Bill Murray comedy, but I think one of his best) Kung Pow - Fists of Fury (A very sophmoric spoof of old Japaneze martial arts films) Who Am I? (A Jackie-Chan action film that's has a lame plot and awful acting, but the action bits are both amazing and hilarious.) UHF (My favorite comedy of all time is Wierd Al Yankovich's only film ever. Not only is the film hilarious but all his spoofs of 80's pop culture are dead on!)

Though I love the Naked Guns series, I do find that the jokes wear thin after repeated viewing, which is a shame.
The bit where Frank bursts into his own apartment and does all those somersaults and flips before kicking in the kitchen door and having it slam back in his face nearly made me sick with laughter the first time I saw it. And the punishment Nordburg goes through is very funny.
But the sequels got less and less funny I think.
One of the funniest and dead on balls accurate spoofs I ever saw is Wet Hot American Summer. It's a spoof of those 80's summercamp films and is pretty hilarious!
I love Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, though I think it is more sly than laugh out loud hilarious. I bought the DVD too. Matt Holness is quite a funny guy. I'm enjoying him on Man To Man With Dean Learner.
UHF is quite funny but I cannot stand Michael Richards. His face angers me, in fact! I owned a copy of UHF on DVD but sold it because I cannot bring myself to watch it again because I think Richards is a terwaht!
My fave's:
Sledge Hammer! Better Off Dead One Crazy Summer Wet Hot American Summer Blame It On Rio What About Bob? (Richard Dreyfuss steals this movie) The Brady Bunch movies were quite funny Carry On movies The Sure Thing Secret Admirer My Cousin Vinny Loverboy Dodgeball Dude, Where's My Car? (Seann William Scott always makes me laugh)
Oh, loads of films.

While we are on the subject of films does anyone here like Smokey and the bandit(Only the first one though, the rest were crap).I must have watched it 15 times and(I will probably regret saying this)I actually like the country music in it,you know "Keep your foot hard the pedal, never mind them brakes let it all hang out cos weve got a run to make,East-bound and down load it up and truck it....." I think thats how one of the songs go,I had an 82 trans-am and watching that made me want that 77 special edition, the bridge jump was cool too and did you say you cant stand Michael Richards,I think he is great, ever seen Seinfeld(another of my obsessions) with him as Cosmo Kramer, genius in my mind.

Yes, I have watched Smokey and the Bandit several times and quite like it. I was never really into the country hick, cowboy scene, but the movie was fast paced and exciting, quite a road trip movie. I had a thing for Sally Field. She was cute! Burt Reynolds I thought was too old, even then.

Yeah - old! LoL Seriously, he reminded me of a 70's porn star with that moustache. I mean, I'd have prefered the Bandit to be more of a 'young buck' or at least early 30's! Compared to Field, he looked old enough to be her daddy! LoL

That bridge jump in Smokey was mental!
Jackie Gleason steals the movie with his evil jibes about his wife.
That song "Eastbound and Down" by Jerry Reed is quite cool. I downloaded it off WinMX a couple of years ago.
I thought number 2 was pants but I kind of like number 3.
Must be a nostalgia thing.
Apparently, Smokey inspired the creation of The Dukes of Hazzard!
